Maintenance & Care

Regular Maintenance

The Composite Company suggests performing regular maintenance on your decking every 1-3 months to remove any dirt, mud, and soil that may build up over time. For a basic clean, use warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush to clean the surface of the boards. For a more thorough clean, you can use a pressure washer with a maximum pressure of 3100 PSI, but make sure to keep the fan attachment at least 250mm away from the boards. Cleansing in this manner will help maintain the deck's appearance over time. When cleaning, make sure to clean along the length of the boards to prevent material buildup that could obstruct proper drainage.

Tackling Tough Stains

For persistent stains such as oil or grease, follow the steps mentioned in the regular maintenance section, and also consider the following advice: Act quickly and treat the affected area within the first 7 days. A water-based composite deck cleaner specifically designed to remove oil from the surface of the boards can be used.

Mould and Mildew Prevention

While our composite deck boards are resistant to the harm caused by mould and mildew growth, it can still occur on any outdoor surface and may accumulate on the boards. Following the steps in the regular maintenance section will help prevent excessive growth.

Water Mark Removal

Although care is taken during the manufacturing process, residual oils may still remain on the composite decking products, causing white streaks on the surface of the deck boards. These water marks will usually disappear over the course of 6-8 weeks when exposed to rainwater. To speed up the process, use warm soapy water to thoroughly clean the affected boards, and you can also use a pressure washer to remove surface residue. To further hasten the process, consider using a composite decking brightener designed to remove residual oils present in the boards.
